Would I benefit from doing NSR if I have done a different brain retraining course already?

Yes, definitely.

It is not uncommon to start one course and find that you need a little different angle later on as you grow and heal.

Bootcamp style courses, without the full spectrum of our nervous system parts that need to be addressed in healing, tend to only take the individual so far in their healing.

"We can become stuck in trying to become unstuck."

Sometimes a change is exactly what we need. Everyone is unique in their own way, some courses resonate better with individuals than others. Our course might be the one that resonates deeper with you because of our gentler, and simpler approach. We have also covered some important keys to healing that may have been missing in the previous courseĀ you took.

How much time a day can I expect to spend doing NSR?

Your time per day could average between 30 minutes to an hour.

Keep in mind, nervous system healing should become a lifestyle incorporation and NSR was created with the idea in mind that it could easily be incorporated into your life.

Do you recommend taking supplements and other protocols to help with nervous system healing?

We can not offer specific advice regarding additional treatment.

A lot of individuals who come to NSR may be on several or many supplements. Taking supplements while doing nervous system healing is your choice. Often times individuals have a goal of going off of them with time. In the past they may have truly needed these supplements to function but as we heal, our bodies may not depend on them any longer and it turns into a place of choice. You can choose to take them as an act of love, knowing that the nervous system healing work is what is getting to the root, and the supplements are acting as an aid in that process. This is your decision.

Should I continue with my medical treatment and/or mental health protocol while doing NSR?

NSR does not take the place of your medical doctor. We advise you to consult your doctor before making any big changes. NSR is not medical advice or a replacement for medical advice.

What lifestyle changes should I expect to make?

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is fundamental for every person.

After starting NSR, it is recommended you consider the following:

  • Limiting exposure to social media as it can be overstimulating for already hypervigilant and overactive nervous systems. We recommend putting down that cell phone for sure an hour before bed and waiting at least half an hour in the morning before picking it back up.
  • Get out into nature whenever possible. God made a beautiful world, full of nature that aids in healing and restoring safety to our nervous systems.
  • Get in some exercise. Bring in movement. Does not need to be anything excessive.
  • Cultivate a positive, growth mindset.
  • Notify your family and friends about this new chapter and how this means you are now aware of your involvement in negative conversations and their impact. You might help them understand they can have a part in your healing by holding you accountable.
How long will it take me to heal?

We all have different 'storms' and reasons for being here. There is not one answer the same for everyone.

The length of time for our nervous systems to heal depends on a lot of things. To name a few…

  • How deep the trauma goes.
  • The severity of symptoms.
  • The environment in which you live.
  • Your dedication.
  • Your commitment.
  • The changes you make or don’t make.

The term 'heal' refers to the idea of being 100% free from illness. Being ‘healed’ can mean something different from one person to another. What does being ‘healed’ mean to you? Free from chronic illness? Experiencing calm? Complete freedom? Life is a constant journey of healing and learning. We never reach a place where all of our stressors are over. But we can reach a place where we can more easily flow through these stressors.

We have phases in our life where we do need to pay more diligence to healing.

NSR example: Everyone has an initial ‘healing’ phase where it requires a lot more consistency and diligence and that in itself could be anywhere from 6 months to 3 years or more. You can not expect to fully heal and then go back to living the life we had before being chronically ill. That life quite likely wasn’t supportive for your nervous system as it led to nervous system dysregulation. (This is not your fault)

Once doing the work, there should be changes to your life (Coping behaviors, how you view your life and yourself, interact with others, thought patterns, etc.) that remain in place for life. You should carry this tool kit with you more then just the 6 months to 3 years, using it to support your nervous system through the ups and downs of life.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for men and woman and older children. It is for those dealing with chronic health issues ranging from severe, bed-bound and disabled to those just wanting some help mentally to feel better and thrive in their daily life.Ā

In society in general we see a much higher percentage of woman then men with chronic illness. This also leads to a higher number of women doing these courses then men. We try our best to be all inclusive at NSR and help accommodate this in coaching and support where we can.Ā

As far as children, we have found all children can benefit from this work, it just looks differentĀ individually according to their cognitive ability to understand the course. We always recommend parents or guardians of the children do the course either alongside the child or ahead of time. It is important they implement the course in their own life to then better understand how to apply it in their child's life. Many times as the parent learns these new ways of responding in life, to their child, and with themselves, it can already make a difference in their young child's life.Ā
