Did you know hearing birds sing tells the nervous system there is no predator or danger?

 

When you are stressed, triggered, or symptomatic, your nervous system has perceived there to be a threat. It is your job to find ways to show this part of you that there is no threat. This idea your nervous system has that there is a threat is often misperceived and stemming from a past experience or story. There can be many reasons your nervous system is perceiving danger. We don’t need to always figure it out but instead try to be that steady support in ways we have learned are helpful, specifically from a course like NSR.

 

Next time you feel stressed or triggered, step outside and walk in nature where birds sing, or just listen out your door. If you live in the north where birds literally disappear it seems in winter, put on some quiet bird sounds for a couple minutes and this can help as well.
